BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 15, 2017) - Florida Atlantic University's softball team lost the final game of its three game set against Middle Tennessee 2-1 in nine innings, but still won the overall weekend series. The Owls are now 28-16 overall and 9-6 in Conference USA.
Head Coach Joan Joyce
“Amanda (Wilson) pitched a great game today for us. As a whole, you can’t let a team hang around and make them think they have an opportunity to get back into it and that’s exactly what we did. We hit the ball very well in both games yesterday, but today we struggled a bit.”
- Delaney Rickey went 2-for-4 and had an RBI
- Madisyn Palmer scored the lone run for the Owls
- Samantha Lageyre and Amanda Peck each added a hit
- Amanda Wilson pitched 8.1 innings allowing two runs on nine hits. Tatum Buckley relieved her for the final half inning of the game.
FAU was the first team to reach home plate in the bottom of the third inning and the run was scored by Palmer. Middle Tennessee didn’t score their first run until the top of the fifth. The Blue Raiders scored their go ahead run in the top of the ninth and they managed to hold off the Owls in their at bat to close out the game.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday as they travel on the road to North Texas for a weekend conference series. You can also follow the team via fausports.com for an audio option or live scoring. Updates will also be available on the team’s Twitter account, @fauowlssoftball.
