JACKSONVILLE, AL - Florida Atlantic University, ranked no. 11 in the nation, swept a doubleheader with Jacksonville State University Friday in Jacksonville, AL. FAU (48-7, 11-1 A-Sun) won the first game 2-0 before taking game two 6-1. The wins extended the Lady Owls' winning streak to 10 games.
Game one was scoreless until the top of the fifth when FAU broke out on top. The frame started harmlessly as the first two hitters were retired before Heather Wright doubled. After walks to Nikki Myers and Pam Mazzarella, Callie Piper delivered an infield single to score Wright and give the Lady Owls a 1-0 lead.
FAU added another run in the sixth when Rhianna Rogers led off with a double and later scored on a single by Michelle Shirah. The damage could have been worse in both of FAU's scoring innings as the Lady Owls left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth.
Candice Freel (21-3) tossed her second shutout in as many days while winning her fourth straight decision. She allowed just three hits and struck out three. Freel did not allow a walk in securing her 10th shutout of the year.

After Myers was intentionally walked, Mazzarella singled home Ybarra to put FAU up 1-0. With two outs and the bases loaded, Rogers singled to score Myers and make it 2-0 FAU. The Lady Owls would take a 3-0 lead on a bases loaded passed ball.
Shirah then led off the second with her second homer in as many days to put the Lady Owls up 4-0.
After JSU (28-9, 5-3 A-Sun) scored once in the third, Ybarra hit a solo homer in the fourth to put FAU in front 5-1. The blast to center field was Ybarra's 10th round-tripper of the year and tied her for the team lead with Myers. In the past two days
Following a walk to Myers, her sixth of the day, Mazzarella doubled to drive in Myers, putting FAU up 6-1.
Myers went the distance in improving to 27-4 on the year while winning her eighth straight decision. She gave up six hits while striking out 11 against just two walks.
