MOBILE, AL - Florida Atlantic softball team lost both games of its doubleheader to South Alabama on Thursday.
The Owls (24-22, 7-7 Sun Belt) lost the first game of the doubleheader 11-0 in five innings. The offense came early and often for the Jaguars (31-7, 8-3) as they scored three runs in the first inning, followed by four more in the second inning. USA added another run in the third. A Haley Fagan homerun provided the final margin of victory. Alexa Ballard, Shelby Knox and Lindsey Shell all had hits in the game for FAU.
FAU lost the second game 6-0. The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the third, when a two-run single by Blair Johnson put USA up 2-0. The Jaguars added four runs in the sixth inning on an Owl defensive error and back to back homeruns.
The Owls will complete their trip through the state of Alabama with a three-game series at Troy, beginning at 2 p.m. eastern Saturday with a doubleheader. Live stats will be available at www.fausports.com.
