MIAMI, FL - Florida Atlantic University tied a season-high with three home runs in a 4-1 non-conference victory over Florida International University Wednesday night in Miami, FL. Nikki Myers, Ginny Matthews, and Pam Mazzarella each hit solo shots to lead the no. 11 Lady Owls to their 40th victory of the season.

FIU got on the board in the bottom of the second when Kristen Perry led off and reached on an error. She later scored on a sacrifice fly by Crystal Boyer with one out to give the Golden Panthers a 1-0 lead.

FAU (40-7) tied the game 1-1 in the fourth on a lead-off homer by Myers. For the Lady Owls, it was their first hit of the game and it was Myers' seventh home run of the season.

The Lady Owls continued with the long ball in the sixth when Matthews led off with her fifth homer of the year, a line drive to left center, to give FAU a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Mazzarella connected for her second homer to put the Lady Owls on top 3-1. FAU scored their fourth run in the seventh on an FIU (28-23) throwing error.

Myers (23-4) went the distance on the mound, scattering six hits while allowing the unearned run in the fourth. She struck out eight and walked two. Leah Barnes suffered the loss for FIU. The Golden Panthers stranded nine base runners.

Florida Atlantic next hosts Mercer in an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader Friday at 6:00pm.
