Final Stats

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's softball team (21-18) shutout its two Saturday opponents to earn their third and fourth-consecutive shutouts. FAU downed Iowa State 6-0 in game one of the day and Bethune-Cookman 9-0 in game two. Opponents have yet to score a run against the Owls in the 2013 Parents' Weekend Tournament.

The first game saw FAU put five runs on the board in the first inning including a two-run line drive homer over the right/center fence by pitcher Stephanie Call. Call helped herself in the circle by keeping ISU off the board despite several threats. In all the senior hurler gave up just four hits and retired 10 by strikeout. Call improved to 7-5 on the season. FAU recorded seven hits in the game with outfielder Lindsey Shell earning multiple hits with a 2-for-3 performance.

FAU returned to the field for the second game of the night and the second of the tournament versus Bethune-Cookman.

The Owls started a little slower scoring their first run in the third but scored a minimum of one run in each of the last five frames. FAU tallied 12 hits in the game. Sarah Howell was 3-for-4 while Laura Mann was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Paige Pender tossed the complete game shutout and improved to 10-8 on the year. The sophomore gave up three hits and retired five by strikeout.

The Owls will be back in action Sunday as the Parents' Weekend Tournament concludes.
