BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University continues to play its best softball of the season after a 2-1 win over Kent State Saturday night at the FAU "Parents' Weekend" Tournament in Boca Raton, FL. Jessica Braggins hit her second homer of the day, and an unearned run in the seventh helped the Owls to the one-run victory. FAU improved to 30-11 on the year and has won six straight and 15 of its past 17 games.

With one out in the top of the fourth, Braggins homered to straight-away center to put FAU up 1-0. The homer was her team-leading fourth of the season.

Kent State tied the game in the fifth before the Owls came back in the seventh. Callie Piper drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. With two outs, Jessica Sachs reached on an infield single, advancing Piper to third. Candice Freel then pinch-hit for Jenna Lopez and reached on a fielding error which allowed Piper to score what turned out to be the game-winning run.

Sachs had three of FAU's five hits with the other two coming from Braggins. Sachs went 7-for-8 on the day while Braggins was 4-for-6.

Amanda Morin (13-5) picked up the win in relief. She allowed one run on two hits in four innings of work with five strikeouts. Ashley Greene started the game and pitched three scoreless innings.

The tournament features five teams with FAU advancing to Sunday's championship as the only team to go 4-0 in round-robin play. The Owls will face Florida International in Sunday's championship game at 1:00pm. FAU is 3-0 against the Golden Panthers this year and picked up a 4-3 win on Friday. FIU enters the game with 10 wins in its last 12 games.
