BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team lost to Syracuse 4-0 in the final game of the Parents' Weekend Tournament on Sunday.

Syracuse (17-8) scored three times in the first inning, coming on an RBI double to center and a two-run homerun to right field. The Owls' (10-22) best chance to score came with runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the inning, but they could not take advantage.

FAU had another opportunity to score in the 4th inning, with Heather Barnes and Stephanie Call on second and third, respectively, but they were left stranded. The Orange scored a run in the 6th on a triple and Owl throwing error.

Samantha Messer recovered from a tough start and threw a complete game, not allowing an earned run after the first inning. Fawbush roped a single down the line in the third for FAU's only hit of the game.

The Owls have finished their nonconference schedule and will begin Sun Belt conference play in earnest on Wednesday when they travel to rival FIU. The game starts at 6 p.m. and live stats and live audio of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
