BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team lost both of its games on Saturday at the Parents' Weekend Tournament.
FAU (10-21) lost to Syracuse (16-8) 10-2 in its first game of the day. The Owls drew first blood when Stephanie Call hit her third homerun of the season to take a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Syracuse cut the lead in half in the third inning on an RBI base hit. FAU had a chance to add to its lead in the third with the bases loaded and just one out, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the inning without a run scoring. The Orange added at least two runs in four straight innings to blow the game open.
Jacksonville (17-12) beat the Owls 7-1 in the nightcap. Unlike the first game, FAU fell behind early on, with the Dolphins scoring six runs in the first two innings. A three-run bases clearing double in the second inning was the big hit for JU. Diandra Fernandez scored FAU's only run in the seventh inning on a Dolphin throwing error.
FAU will wrap up the Parents' Weekend Tournament on Sunday, with a game against Syracuse beginning at 11 a.m. Live stats and live audio of the game will be available at www.fausports.com
