BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University softball team lost both games of its doubleheader with Western Kentucky on Wednesday night.
FAU (6-15, 0-2 Sun Belt) lost 11-0 in five innings in Wednesday's first game. Western Kentucky (14-5, 2-0) used two big innings to win the game, scoring six runs in the third inning and adding five more in the fifth inning to provide the final margin. Whitley Herb beat out an infield single for the Owls' only hit of the game.
The Hilltoppers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game number two on an RBI single by Preslie Cruce. The Owls answered in the bottom of the first, when Taylor Fawbush scored on a WKU fielding error. WKU regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two runs to take a 3-1 advantage. The Hilltoppers added a run in both the sixth and seventh innings to arrive at the final score.
FAU and Western Kentucky will meet in the final game of the series on Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m. Live audio and stats of the game will be available at www.fausports.com.
