Candice Freel was named MVP of the 2004 FAU "Worth" Invitational

BOCA RATON, FL - Despite a 2-0 loss to Notre Dame in its only game of the day, Florida Atlantic University still won the FAU "Worth" Invitational held at FAU Field in Boca Raton, FL. In addition, Candice Freel was named tournament MVP as FAU concluded play with a 19-10 overall record.
Against the Fighting Irish (12-6), the Owls managed just one hit as Heather Booth took a perfect game into the sixth inning. Jenna Lopez was the lone Owl to reach base with a one-out single in the sixth.
Amanda Morin suffered the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in four innings of work. Freel, who pitched two scoreless innings in relief, went 10 innings for the weekend and allowed just three hits with 12 strikeouts. She shut out North Carolina on Saturday, 1-0, in eight innings.
Florida Atlantic returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Rhode Island in a 6:00pm doubleheader.
