Florida Atlantic University's softball team improved to 21-3 on the season and 2-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play with two victories over Campbell University, Tuesday night. FAU won the first game 2-1 and narrowly escaped a seventh inning charge by the Camels and won the second game behind a no-hit effort by senior Nikki Myers in a 6-0 win in the back half of a double header.
FAU scored in the first and the fourth of the first game and saw freshman Candice Freel post a 2-for-3 plate performance including an RBI to help her cause. Ninya Ybarra was also 2-for-3. Amy Bellisari hit FAU's only extra base hit, a double.
On the mound, Freel improved to 9-1 after pitching a complete game five hitter. She retired six and walked two.
The second game saw FAU post two in the first and four in the second. Ybarra was 1-for-2 with a double down the left line. Myers and freshman Pam Mazzarella drove in two runs each.
Myer's threw a complete game retired 14 by strikeouts and walked one. She improved to 12-2 on the season.
FAU will next travel to Tampa where they will participate in University of South Florida's Speedline Tournament.
