BATON ROUGE, La. - Florida Atlantic University softball fell on the final day of the LSU Invitation to the host No. 10 ranked Tigers 5-1, Sunday afternoon.

“Kara (Lokeiky), one of the freshmen, started and did an excellent job,” said Joan Joyce, FAU’s head softball coach. “She got a little nervous in the first inning and gave up a dinger. After that, she settled down and pitched nicely for five innings. And then, Kelsey (Morrison) came in and shut them down.”
Game 1 Highlights
- Madisyn Palmer was 2-for-3 in the game and scored FAU’s lone run
- Emily Lochten was 1-for-3 with a RBI
- Mia Olson and Jolie Duffner were each 1-for-2
- Kara Lokeinsky threw five complete, gave up five runs, four of which were earned
- Kelsey Morrison pitched the final inning frame, allowing one hit
Kara Lokiensky drew the start. The first inning was the challenge. The freshman gave up a bases loaded homer to left center. She then held the Tigers scoreless through the next three innings, giving up her final run in the fifth. The Owls scored in the sixth. Madisyn Palmer led off with a single. Palmer then stole second and advanced to third on the catcher’s throwing error. She was then singled home by Emily Lochten.
The Owls will return home to play host to the 2018 Parents’ Weekend Tournament starting Thursday, March 8. Teams include: Ball State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, LIU-Brooklyn and Rutgers.
