LAS VEGAS, NV - The Florida Atlantic University softball team split its two games at day two of the Eller Media Stadium Classic.
In the first game, against Wright State, Amber Barton's two-run homerun put FAU (10-9) ahead in the top of the first inning. The score was tied in the top of the third when Amy Bukovich scored on a Caitlyn Bliss base hit to once again give the Owls the lead, 3-2. A Hailey Broyles sacrifice fly gave FAU a two-run cushion in the fourth inning.
The Raiders best threat came in the fifth with a run already scored and the bases loaded with none out. Carrie Ann Potter, who entered in relief of starter Amber Barton was able to get out of the inning with no more runs scoring. Blair Bodenmiller hit her second homerun of the season for the final margin of victory. Barton went four innings for her first win of the season, Potter pitched three innings for her second save of the year.
In the second game, the Owls took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Loyola Marymount answered with five runs over the next two innings. FAU threatened in the sixth inning, but was unable to score, ultimately falling to the Lions 5-2.
