FAU Softball Sweeps Day 1 of FAU Tournament
BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Feb. 24, 2017) – Florida Atlantic University’s softball team earned themselves a pair of victories in its two games at the FAU Tournament on Friday. The Owls beat UConn 5-0 in their first game and Arkansas 3-1 in their second game.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday in the FAU Tournament, the Owls’ third tournament of the year, featuring: Arkansas, UConn, Florida A&M, Kentucky, and Memphis.

“Amanda pitched very well in the first game for us tonight. We hit the ball well and it was a really clean game for us. The Arkansas game was unbelievable game tonight. With Kylee pitching it makes the game tough for any opponent, and that showed tonight. They were undefeated prior to tonight’s game but we held our own and took care of business.”
Game 1 Highlights
In the top of the third inning, Peck and Madisyn Palmer scored on a two RBI single to center field by Rickey. Samantha Lageyre got on base due to a bunt in the fifth inning, stole second and then scored due to a throwing error by the Arkansas shortstop. In the top of the seventh, Lochten hit a homerun to right center to bring in the final run of the game.
Game 2 Highlights
- Samantha Lageyre went 1-for-2 along with two RBI’s
- Kylee Hanson had 11 strikeouts
- Emily Lochten, Carolyn Rosa, and Amanda Peck each brought in a run
Lochten got a double to right center in the bottom of the fourth, stole third, then scored on a throwing error by the Razorback catcher. In the bottom of the fifth, Lageyre brought in two runs with a double down the left field line.
