BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University fell to the University of Michigan 4-2, in their second to last game of the FAU Kick-Off Classic this morning. The Owls will play their last game of the tournament at 3 p.m. today against the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds.
Florida Atlantic's starting pitcher Stephanie Call took an early lead for the Owls with a single that allowed Christina Martinez to make it home from second. The team held off the Wolverines with runners making it to third during both the 2nd and 3rd innings.
FAU held onto a 1-0 lead until the top of the 5th when the Wolverines hit a home run with bases loaded, putting Michigan in the lead 4-1. At the bottom of the 7th Laura Mann hit a single allowing Shelby Knox to score for FAU bringing the final score 4-2 Michigan.
FAU will host the Strike Out Cancer Tournament on Friday, February 22- Sunday, February 24. The Owls will play against Towson and Connecticut on Friday, North Florida and Northern Illinois on Saturday, and finally Providence on Sunday to finish the tournament.
