BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University softball team split its two games at the Lipton Invitational on Friday.

The Owls surrendered six runs in the third inning eventually losing to Georgia Tech 13-2 in five innings. Caitlyn Bliss went 2-for-3 in the loss.

FAU beat Texas Tech 7-4 in their second game of the day.

The Owls scored in the first inning when a Blair Bodenmiller sacrifice fly drove in Ambar Jones. FAU added two more runs in the when Jones singled in Hailey Broylesand Brittany Walker to take a 3-2 lead. The game was tied in the fourth when Walker scored on a TTU fielding error and Jones singled in Ashlyn Parmerter.

A Bodenmiller solo homerun in the fifth inning provided the margin of victory. Kathryn Stauffer pitched her second complete game of the year to pick up the win. FAU (5-2) continues play at the Lipton Invitational on Saturday when it plays Texas Tech at 8 a.m. and Florida at 12:30 p.m. Both games will be available via GameTracker at fausports.com.
