Florida Atlantic University’s softball team got another win at the FAU Kick Off Classic on Sunday, by defeating Michigan State University 5-0.
Head Coach Joan Joyce
“Great game overall, Michigan State is a very good team and before this game they were undefeated, so it was a good win for us.”
On her overall thoughts about the weekend..
“The first night was a bit rough, and that was probably because we had a lot of young players playing for the first time. On Friday, Amanda Wilson pitched a great game but unfortunately in the last inning we made an error and ended up losing the game. We played a great game last night and today and we are looking to continue the success going forward into next weekend.”
- Emily Lochten had two runs and three hits including an RBI
- Alex Miller went 2-for-3
- Madisyn Palmer, Tatum Buckley, and Alex Miller had an RBI each
- Kylee Hanson held MSU scoreless and allowed just three hits in the game while also bringing in eight strikeouts.
Lochten led off the third inning with a base hit and advanced on a Spartan wild pitch, then stole home for the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Miller drove in Palmer with a single to left. In the bottom of the fifth, Lochten had a lead off single, stole second and came around to score on Buckley’s RBI single. Lochten came up with bases loaded in the sixth inning and her base hit allowed Sami Williams to score. Palmer followed with a infield single, scoring Amanda Peck to account for the final score.
