The Florida Atlantic University Owls softball team couldn’t keep up with Ohio State University’s premiere pitcher and fell to the Buckeyes 10-1, Saturday night,, FAU moved to 3-2 on the season, all played in the First Pitch Classic.
The First Pitch Classic features Boston University, Bethune-Cookman, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, and Ohio State.

“Mia threw the best game I’ve ever seen her throw,” said Joyce. “Tomorrow, we go out and do what we do best. We have 52 more games to go.”
- Alex Acevedo went 1-for-2 with a single, earning her first collegiate hit
- Alex Miller reached base twice
- Mia Olson picked up a loss, leveling her record to 1-1
Acevedo had a pitch hit single for the Owls in the fifth inning to breakup the no-no. She then scored on a Buckeye fielding error. Palmer and Olsen both earn singles in the sixth and seventh, respectively, but the Owls couldn’t build on the momentum.
The Owls will host Bethune-Cookman for their next and final game of the Classic at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. Tournament games begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday and will run through the evening.
