Tallahassee, Fl - The Lady Owls played a non-conference game against tournament winner No. 9 Washington. The Huskies went 4-0 in the tournament beating FAU on Friday 2-1 in 10 innings.
The second game of the day proved to be a pitchers' dual early as Lady Owl All-American Nicole Myers struck out the first seven Husky batters and retired her 1,00 career hitter by strike out. UW pitcher Ashley Boek did her part in keeping the Owls off the scoreboard allowing just two base runners through the first four innings.
Washington broke through in the fifth inning as Kristen Rivera blasted a home run for the team's first hit and run of the game. The Huskies' 1-0 lead lasted only a short time as a single by FAU freshman third baseman Jennifer Piazza turned into a run, as the ball gott past UW rightfielder and rolled to the fence to tie the score at one.
UW bounced right back in its next at-bat in the top of the sixth with two singles and a double which drove in two runs.
Senior Nicole Myers (5-1) went the distance for the Lady Owls striking out a season high 14 batters in her first loss of the season.
The Lady Owls are now 8-2 on the season and return home to host the FAU "Worth" Invitational, February 22-24.
