Final Stats

MIAMI, FL - Florida Atlantic University was defeated by the University of Georgia, 1-0, Sunday in the championship game of the FIU DeLong Invitational. The no. 7 Bulldogs scored the game's only run in the bottom of the first as FAU fell to 6-3 on the year.

Nicole Barber led off the first with a single and then stole second. She advanced to third on a sacrifice and came home to score on a single by Kim Wendland.

Candice Freel (4-2) picked up the loss, despite allowing just four hits in six innings of work. Pam Mazzarella had two of FAU's three hits, including a two-out double in the first.

Freel, Mazzarella, and Jessica Sachs were all named to the All-Tournament Team. Mazzarella batted .500 (9-for-18) with four doubles in FAU's five games. Sachs had four hits, a stolen base, and two RBIs. Freel pitched three complete games, including a no-hitter on Friday. She struck out 20 and walked two and allowed just one run and seven hits in 20 innings of work.

Florida Atlantic next faces Florida International February 17 in Miami.
