Tallahassee, FL - Tallahassee, FL No. 9 Washington Huskies outlast Florida Atlantic in 10 innings, 2-1 in the first game of the Florida State "Seminole Challenge" softball tournament.

In a game pitting two undefeated teams, Washington senior Becky Simpson scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Huskies downed Florida Atlantic.

With the game tied 1-1, Simpson beat out the throw to first on a ground ball to second base, stole second base, then advances to third on an Owl error and scored the game-winner on a fielder's choice.

The Huskies opened the scoring in the bottom of the third. The Lady Owls answered back in their very next at-bat in the top of the fourth, as senior catcher Heather Wright singled and then scored on a long double to center field by senior designated player Nicole Myers.

Freshman pitcher Candice Freel went the distance for the Lady Owls giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out four.

With the win, Washington moved to 6-0 on the season while FAU dropped to 5-1. The Lady Owls were in action later Friday night against host, #15 Florida State. FAU will play #22 South Carolina on Saturday in the second day of the "Seminole Challenge."
