TAMPA, FL -- Florida Atlantic University scored two runs in the fourth inning to come from behind and defeat Sam Houston State University, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in Tampa, FL. The win improves no. 26 FAU to 1-2 on the year.

Amanda Morin (1-1) picked up her first collegiate victory. The freshman pitched her second complete game in as many days and allowed just one unearned run on four hits. She walked two and struck out four.

All the runs in the game were unearned as each team committed three errors. Ginny Matthews began the FAU rally in the fourth by reaching on a lead-off single. That's when the Lady Owls took advantage of poor SHSU defense. Pam Mazzarella reached on a fielders choice as Matthews advanced to second on an error. After a groundout by Callie Piper advanced the base runners, Jenn Piazza reached on an error while driving in Matthews to tie the game at 1-1. Ebony Gray followed with an RBI grounder that was misplayed for the third error of the inning as Mazzarella scored what turned out to be the winning run.

Morin retired 11 of the last 14 batters she faced to preserve the victory for FAU. The Lady Owls outhit SHSU 5-4. Matthews went 2-for-4 with a double while Gray, Mazzarella and Piper added base hits.

Florida Atlantic will face Northwestern Saturday night as play continues at the USF "Louisville Slugger" Tournament.
