The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will host Senior Day on Thursday, Oct. 31 as five Owls will suit up for the final time at the FAU Soccer Stadium. FAU plays host to UAB in what could determine the postseason fate of the Owls.
FAU must win and needs help from two other programs in order to make the Conference USA Tournament in Houston, Texas.
Seniors Lauren Berlingo, Brittney Nash, Lindsey Rice, Marisa Russo and Courtney Zwetsch will step onto the pitch for the final time in Boca Raton. The Owls (4-10-4, 2-4-3 C-USA) are slated to kick off against the Blazers at 7 p.m. Senior Day recognition will take place just before kickoff.
UAB (11-5-2, 4-3-2 C-USA) is currently tied with Charlotte for second place in the C-USA East Division and has clenched a spot in the tournament. The Blazers are 6-3 in road games this season and are coming off of a 2-1 victory over North Texas on Oct. 27.
The Owls topped Charlotte on the road 3-1 on Sunday, picking up three points in the standings. FAU sits in seventh place, two points behind Marshall and Middle Tennessee.
The Owls hold the tiebreaker against Marshall after beating the Herd 2-1 on Oct. 18.
If FAU were to make the tournament, the Owls would open play in the first round on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Rice Soccer Stadium.
