BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University women's cross country runner Marla Keyes and women's soccer player Claire Emslie have been honored for their recent accomplishments by being named this week's Student-Athletes of the Week.
Keyes competed in her second 6K since joining the Owls at UCF’s Black and Gold Invitational. The freshman crossed the finish line as FAU’s top competitor for the meet. Keyes received third-place honors and set a personal record with a final time of 22:15.47. Her finish also earned her Conference USA’s Athlete of the Week honors last week.
UCF’s invitational marked FAU’s final regular season meet as the team now prepares for their first appearance at the Conference USA Cross Country Championships in Denton, Texas on Nov. 2.
Emslie scored two goals leading FAU to a victory on Sunday over conference opponent the Charlotte 49ers, keeping the Owls in the Conference USA race. She took eight shots on the week, two of which were on goal. The sophomore from Scotland leads FAU in scoring on the season with six goals.
The Owls host UAB on Thursday, Oct. 31 in the final regular-season match of. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and live stats will be available at www.fausports.com.
