BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team was recently recognized by United Soccer Coaches as a recipient of a 2016-17 College Team Academic Award.
By posting a team GPA last season of 3.26, FAU was bestowed this honor by United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA - National Soccer Coaches Association Of America). “We are very excited to be recognized by United Soccer Coaches for our young ladies’ work in the classroom,” said Head Coach Patrick Baker. “Many people watch us play throughout the season, but few see and realize how hard our players work in the classroom year-round. The award reflects the true dedication of a student-athlete and we are pleased to have achieved this recognition for our women’s soccer program. We had two players with a perfect 4.0 GPA last year - Alex Mastrobuono and Mary Hasler - we are very proud of their academic accomplishments. Hopefully this award becomes an annual recognition piece of our women’s soccer program.”
The Owls have four matches remaining on their regular season schedule, and just one more home match: Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 22, hosting UTEP at 12:30 p.m.
