Sept. 26, 2013

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team opens Conference USA play this weekend as it travels to face UTSA and Tulsa, each for the first time in school history.

The Owls (2-6-1) start their ten game conference schedule with an 8 p.m. match at UTSA in San Antonio, Texas on Friday. The Roadrunners (1-8) have been shutout in each of their last four matches. Their lone win came at home over Sam Houston State on Aug. 30. While UTSA has scored just three goals on the season, its defense has been formidable. The Roadrunners have only given up more than three goals once, against 13th-ranked Baylor in the first game of the year. UTSA also held 12th-ranked Texas A&M to just one goal.

Tulsa (6-3) also prides itself on defense, recording shutouts in five of its six wins on the year. The Golden Hurricane has allowed multiple goals only one time as Penn State notched three goals in the 3-2 victory on Sept. 15. The Owls will square off with Tulsa Sunday at 2 p.m.

FAU will return home to face Middle Tennessee State and UTEP in Conference USA play on Oct. 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
