Boca Raton, FL - Another Florida Atlantic University athletic team will be traveling to Alabama this weekend as the women's soccer team kicks off Sun Belt Conference action with matches at Troy University and University of South Alabama.
The Owls have a 2-5 record this season after a 4-3 win over UAB on September 16. The team has scored six goals in the last two matches.
"The offense is starting to come together. This should give us confidence going forward in the season," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Brian Dooley.
Freshman midfielder Claire Emslie leads FAU with four goals and 10 points. Three of those goals came in the UAB match - a performance that earned her the SBC's Offensive Player of the Week Award.
Other goal scorers for the team this season have been freshman forward Taylor Sorrels, with two goals, and single-goal efforts from junior midfielders Marisa Russo and Ellie Smith and freshman defender Dani Dangremond.
Junior forward Brittney Nash has helped set up those goals with three assists this fall.
