Sept. 18, 2013

BOCA RATON, Fla. - After earning its first wins of the season last weekend, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team travels west to face the University of Southern California Thursday night at 6.

The Owls topped Columbia 2-1 on Friday before throttling Arkansas-Pine Bluff 10-0 on Sunday. FAU tied a school record for shots against the Golden Lions, taking 40 in the double-digit win.

Sophomore Claire Emslie leads the Owls' offense after her hat-trick performance on Sunday. The Scotland native scored three goals in the first 18 minutes of the contest and tacked on an assist. She ranks atop the team in nearly every offensive category.

USC has won just one of its last four matches, following a three-game winning streak to open the season. The Trojans fell to Pepperdine 1-0 in overtime and defeated Loyola Marymount 5-1, both at home last weekend. USC has outscored its opponents by a whopping 11-1 margin in the first half this season and outshot its foes 124-64 on the year.

FAU will return home to host Memphis on Sunday, Sept. 22 at noon.
