BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will play one of its two scheduled matches this week, traveling to Rochester, Michigan, to take on Oakland University Thursday night. However, their match originally set for Sunday at home, versus College of Charleston, has been canceled.
Owls' Week in Review
The Owls fell in two 1-0 matches in Fort Myers, to Liberty and Kent State, dropping their early-season record to 3-3. Defender Ebba Blomqvist and midfielder Jessica Monteiro were named to the weekend's All-Tournament team.
Owls' Week in Preview
Thursday, the Owls head to Rochester, Michigan to take on Oakland, in a match that will be streamed live on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies have started out the season 0-6 and have been outscored 16-4. Cecilie Dokka leads the team with two goals. Prior to the season, the squad was chosen fourth in the Horizon League poll, coming off a 9-10-1 mark a year ago.
Last year, the Owls and Oakland played to a 0-0 scoreless tie in Boca Raton in the only other time the two teams have ever met.
The Owls will take their furthest road trip of the season, heading to Houston to play Rice before moving on to Cedar City, Utah, to match up against Southern Utah. The Rice matchup, the team's Conference USA opener, is set for Friday, Sept. 15, an 8 p.m. EST start. Two days later, at SUU, the squads will kick off at 3 p.m. EST.
