Macon, Ga. - Florida Atlantic University women's soccer goalkeeper Molly Keating was named the first Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the 2003 season as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Keating posted two wins, a 0.48 goals-against average and one shutout in two games against Loyola and no. 25 Indiana.
"I am very thankful for this award but our wins against Loyola and Indiana were a team effort," said Keating. "It was great to be able to beat a nationally ranked team and it really shows how this program has made strides to make it to the next level."
Keating, a senior from Inverness, FL, notched her first win of the season with a 2-1 overtime victory against Loyola-Maryland. This marked the program's first win over Loyola. Keating allowed just one goal in 95 minutes while tallying three saves in the effort. Keating returned to action against no. 25 Indiana and posted her first shutout of the season as she managed five saves in the 1-0 victory to lower her goals against average to 0.48 over the two games. Keating, the program's career shutout leader with 21, has now won the A-Sun Defensive Player-of-the-Week award a program record six times in four years.
