Boca Raton, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University women's soccer senior defender Janelle Blake has been named to the Sun Belt Conference's Preseason All-Conference team. She was one of three defenders recognized on the preseason squad, announced on Thursday by the league.

The Owls will open the season on Friday, August 20 at in-state rival Stetson University, starting at 7 p.m. in DeLand.

Blake, a three-year returning starting player and two-time team captain, anchors the FAU defensive unit by marking the opposition's top scoring threat. She helped the team post shutouts in matches last season against Ball State University, Cal Poly, Troy University and Arkansas State University. She is considered a versatile player who can also help out the team's midfield on occasion.

Blake played the most minutes (1,868) on last year's team and enters the 2010 season ranked eighth in school history for minutes played after playing in 58 career matches. She started in all 20 matches as a junior and played every minute during the conference season.
