BOCA RATON, FL - Susanna Lehtinen is approaching the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer scoring record. This summer, she was asked to showcase her talents for the W-League's Jersey Sky Blue in Bedminster, NJ.
Jersey Sky Blue is an amateur team and member of the W-League, a division of the United Soccer Leagues. The parent organization, Sky Blue Soccer, has signed a letter of intent to become a charter team in the new women's professional soccer league in the New Jersey/New York market in 2008.
The Espoo, Finland native has five points in three regular season matches so far this season and has added a goal in an exhibition match as well. Lehtinen scored two goals and assisted on another on June 2 against the New York Magic for her first regular-season points. Her exhibition goal came against the Rochester Raging Rhinos on May 27. The Sky Blue have gotten off to a 3-0 start to begin the season.
