Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match to top-seeded University of North Texas in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Mobile, AL. The loss ends the Owls' 2012 campaign with a 5-13 record.

This marks the second time this season that there was an one-goal margin between FAU and North Texas, which won the regular-season encounter 2-1 on October 5.

The Mean Green scored the lone goal in the ninth minute on Carly McDowell's second goal of the season. The scoring chance was set up by a Tori Adame's crossing pass from the left side of the field.

North Texas (14-4-2) held a 20-4 shot edge in the match and 8-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

FAU was paced by junior midfielder Ellie Smith's two shots on goal. Freshman forward Claire Emslie and sophomore defender Olivia Mbala each had one shot.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Lantes made five saves in net in her final collegiate match. Other seniors concluding their careers were defender Breanna Lewis, and goalkeepers Courtney Zwetsch and Manon Transleau.
