FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team notched its first goal of the season in a 3-1 loss to Mississippi State in the Embassy Suites Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. The Owls (0-3) outshot the Bulldogs 13-11 in the neutral-site game.

With FAU trailing 2-0, sophomore Taylor Sorrels scored her third career goal on a corner-kick pass from Kelsey Parry in the 44th minute. Sorrels notched three of FAU's six shots on goal.

MSU would tack on a goal off of a penalty kick in the 55th minute, ending the scoring at 3-1.

Senior Courtney Zwetsch was tagged with the loss, making four saves and allowing all three goals. MSU starting goalkeeper CJ Winship made one save and gave up a goal to the Owls before being replaced by Meara Johnson at halftime. Johnson earned four saves in 45 minutes of shutout work.

The Owls will face Davidson on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
