BOCA RATON, Fla. – After claiming victory at the Jacksonville University Classic over the weekend, Florida Atlantic University’s Jacqueline Shelly has been named Conference USA Female Golfer of the Week. Shelly is the first FAU golfer to earn the honor this year.
The sophomore transferred from Mercer University and has established herself as a top competitor for the Owls. Shelly shot 70 in the first round, a score that was good for second place going into the second round. She then carded 73 for a final score of 1-under 143 as she took first place honors. Shelly tallied five birdies and shot even part on 27 out of 36 holes on the Par 72, 5,987 yard course at Marsh Landing Country Club.
The JU Classic marked Shelly’s first win as an Owl and the first victory by an FAU golfer at the tournament. FAU will compete in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. at the 36th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational starting on Sunday, Oct. 20, hosted by FIU.
