BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University women's golf rising junior Tai Barber has earned the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award for her community service efforts over the past year.
“Giving back is my way of showing my appreciation for the opportunity that FAU has given me,” Barber said.
The Grapevine, Texas native spent time last year volunteering with the Junior PGA Tournament, NAMI Coconut Creek and PGA and One Love Escalation Training. She was named to the Conference USA Honor Roll after winning the C-USA Commissioner’s Medal and WGCA All-American Scholar in 2015-16. In her sophomore campaign, Barber played in eight tournaments with a top finish of second at the FAU Winter Warmup.
“We are very proud of Tai for being awarded the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award,” Eric Coleman, Director of Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence, said. “She earned a 3.5 GPA and completed 17 hours of community service while having success on the course. She is the epitome of what we hope all our student-athletes aspire to be.”
