Carafiello's 77 Leads Lady Owls In Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, VA - A 77 by senior Jessica Carafiello led the way for the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team on Sunday as they finished the first round of the TPC Virginia Beach Women's Invitational with a 320 team total, good enough for second place.

Carafiello's fine round leaves her in a tie for fourth in the individual standings, three shots behind Sara Ann Palmer of Ohio University and Kate O'Sullivan of High Point. Ohio leads the team standings after a opening-round 314.

Freshmen June Bolme (78) and Anna-Claire Daniels (80) also had solid opening rounds while Kendall Kirby (85) and Sandi MacDougall (87) brought up the rear for the Owls. The final round of the two-round event will be played on Monday.
