Women's Golf Finishes Opening Day at Stetson in Fourth

MIROMAR LAKES, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s women’s golf team finished opening day of Stetson’s Hatter Classic in fourth place with a team score of 642. The Owls carded rounds of 320 and 322 at the 6,004, par 72 Victoria Hills Golf Club course.

The women’s tournament is being played from the Challenge tees with a 69.3 rating and a 128 slope. Stetson’s tournament has brought six women’s teams to Miromar Lakes, including Daytona State College, Stetson Green, Bethune-Cookman, USC Upstate and host school Stetson University.

The Owls’ top finisher for the first two rounds of play was Jacqueline Shelly, the team’s leading scorer. Shelly tied for eighth with rounds of 77 and 79. Christina Langer and Heather Netti followed, tying for 15th-place. Langer carded rounds of 80 and 82 while Netti shot 84 and 78. The tournament mark’s Netti’s first collegiate performance since joining FAU’s team. Sophomore Emily Peters shot rounds of 80 and 83 for a total 163 strokes, tying for 19th. Amanda Ploener rounded out FAU’s team finishing in 26th with rounds of 83 and 86.

Daytona State College leads the Hatter Classic with a team score of 602. The individual leader of the tournament, also from Daytona State, shot 139 over two rounds of play. FAU will play its final round on Tuesday with tee time set for 7:30 a.m.
