Women's Golf Starts Pat Bradley Championship in Sixth

Miami, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team concluded the first day of the Pat Bradley Championship hosted by Florida International at the Doral G.C. in sixth place. The team shot a first-round 322 and trails the leader by only 12 strokes. Natalia Navarro and Amanda Pettit finished in the top-25 of the 6,084-yard, par 72 course.

Navarro, who won her first tournament of the fall season at the Hatter Fall Classic two weeks ago, fired an opening round 78 to finish tied for 12th individually. Pettit shot a 37 on the front nine before shooting a 42 on the back to finish with an 80 and tied for 21st. Jessica Carafiello started hot by shooting 36 on her first nine holes but finished with an 81. Freshman Sandi MacDougall and Kendall Kirby shot rounds of 83 and 86 respectively.

Host FIU leads the tournament with an opening round 310 while Bethune-Cookman's Maria Dunne leads individually after shooting an opening round 73.

The Lady Owls continue the second round on Saturday before concluding on Sunday.
