Fort Myers, FL (Oct 17, 2006)-- Sophomore Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn recorded her second top five finish this season, as the Florida Atlantic University women's golf team concluded the GSU/Pelican Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
"This was probably the best all-around tournament we've played over three rounds since I've been here," said head coach Joan Joyce.
Phol-Uayporn (72, 72, 76 - 220) shot 4-over par and earned a tie for fifth place. June Bolme (72, 76, 75 - 223) earned her second top 20 finish of the year, shooting 7-over par and completed the Pelican Preserve course tied for 20th place.
Kimberly D'Andrea (80, 76, 78 - 234) completed her first tournament of the season and finished in 57th place. Jennifer Norton (84, 81, 77 - 242) shot her best round of 77 in the final day of the tournament and finished in a tie for 75th. Sandi MacDougall (77, 84, 83 - 244) ended the three-round event in 79th place.
The Owls (301, 305, 306 - 912) ended the par-72 course in 11th place among a highly competitive field. Texas Tech (293, 292, 294 - 879) was the team winner, while Miami's Jessica Steward (69, 68, 72 - 209) earned the individual victory with a 7-under par score card.
FAU's next tournament is the Debarry Intercollegiate on October 29th in Deland, FL.
