Women's Golf Takes Sixth Place at Lady Falcon Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women’s golf team completed its second tournament of the fall schedule at the Lady Falcon Invitational, hosted by Daytona State College, on Monday. The team shot a two-round total of 648 to finish in sixth place at LPGA International.

The two-day tournament consisting of 36 holes was held on the 6,111 yard, par-72 Legends Course.

Jacqueline Shelly led the Owls for her second consecutive tournament, finishing the two rounds tied for 16th-place. Shelly carded rounds of 80 and 78 for a tournament total of 158. The sophomore finished one shot behind Lynn University’s 15th-place finisher and two shots behind a tie for 12th. Sophomore Emily Peters’ 163 tournament total was FAU’s second-best finish for the invitational. Peters shot 77 in the first round and 86 in the second to tie for 28th.

Amanda Ploener and Christina Langer finished two shots behind Peters, shooting 165 for a tie at 34th. Ploener fired rounds of 86 and 79 while Langer shot 82 and 83 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Nicole Marino was FAU’s final golfer, carding 178 total. Marino shot a 95 in the opening round but was able to card 83 in the second round to tie for 47th.

Daytona State College took team and individual first-place honors for the Lady Falcon Invitational. FAU will continue its season on Oct. 5 when it returns to the LPGA International for the three-day Xavier Invitational.
