GULF SHORES, AL – The Florida Atlantic University women’s golf team wrapped up their season on Wednesday, April 23 at the 2014 Conference USA Women’s Golf Championships at The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, AL. The Owls finished in 13th-place with a three-round total of 91-over 955 on the par-72 course.
Jacqueline Shelly and Christina Langer tied for 48th overall with 18-over 234. Shelly was FAU’s leading scorer on the first day of the tournament, tying for 29th place. She then carded 80 in the second round to tie for 45th. Shelly’s third round of 78 strokes dropped her to 48th. Langer finished the second day of play in a 36th-place tie. She shot 81 in the third round to tie with Shelly.
Kayla DeSuza went into the final round tied for 62nd-place with teammate Nicole Marino. DeSuza shot 77 in the third-round, FAU’s lowest individual score for the day, to advance her to a 58th-place tie with 244 strokes total. Madden Leen followed in 62nd place with 250, while Nicole Marino rounded out FAU’s team, finishing 63rd with 84 strokes in the final round. Marino carded 251 over the three days of play.
No. 34 Tulane won the championship for its second consecutive year with a tournament-record 8-under 856. UTSA won the individual medalist honors carding 9-under 207 to tie the conference individual record for 54 holes.
