Buies Creek, NC - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team fell short of its first conference title, finishing fourth overall at the Atlantic Sun Women's Golf Championship. Natalia Navarro tied for fourth to extend her streak of consecutive top-four finishes to nine while Jessica Carafiello finished eighth, her highest finish in an A-Sun Tournament.
Navarro shot a final round 74 in her final A-Sun Tournament to finish with a three-day score of 223. She finished six-strokes back from the winner, Lisbeth Meineke from Georgia State University. The senior from Medellin, Colombia led all players in pars for the tournament with 40 while finishing second in par-four scoring. Navarro did not finish lower than sixth in any tournament this season. Carafiello shot a third-round 79 to finish with a three-day score of 230. The junior from Coral Springs, FL participated in her third consecutive A-Sun tournament, recording her first top-10 finish. Amanda Pettit tied for 25th for her sixth top-25 finish this season. Maria Gutierrez finished with a three-day score of 264 in her second and final A-Sun tournament while Sandi MacDougall finished with a score of 269 in her first appearance.
The Lady Owls (955) dropped one spot from the previous day after shooting their highest score of the tournament, a final round 325. Host Campbell (890) took first place while Georgia State (916), Troy State (952) and Jacksonville (958) round out the top five. FAU recorded the highest finish among the four Florida schools participating.
Campbell will receive the A-Sun's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.
