Owls Finish 11th at SBC Championship

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL - The Florida Atlantic women's golf team finished in 11th place at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships.

For the second time in three rounds, senior Brooke McPoyle had the Owls' low score, with a 78 on Wednesday. That mark also represented the team's lowest score of the tournament. She finished two strokes behind fellow her classmate, Anna Wiklund (three-day total of 245). This was the last collegiate tournament for the two FAU seniors.

Nicole Marino was next at 255, then Marilyne Cadieux at 257. Kayla DeSuza finished with a 270.

Denver won the SBC team title with an 8-over-par total of 872, 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Middle Tennessee. In the first hole of a playoff, DU's Rachel Watton defeated Katie Mundy of FIU, the leader after both of the first two rounds, to win the individual championship. Each had finished the regulation 72 holes with a 1-under-par total of 215.
