Daytona Beach, FL. - The women's golf team of Florida Atlantic University shot its lowest round of the Atlantic Sun Championship while four Lady Owls finished in the top-20 en route to a second place team finish at Indigo Lakes Golf Club. Anne Fraser finished in third place overall and Jessica Carafiello shot the lowest round of the third round to finish her fourth straight tournament in the top-16.
Fraser, a senior from Deerfield Beach, FL and the overall leader after the first round, shot a final round 78 and finished six strokes behind the leader for her fourth top-five finish of the spring. Natalia Navarro, who jumped 24 places the previous day, fired a round of 76 to remain in sixth place overall. Carafiello, participating in her second A-Sun Championship, fired a tournament low round of 71 to jump 13 places and finish 16th overall. Amanda Pettit shot a second consecutive round of 80 to finish in a tie for 17th, her highest finish of the spring. Heidi von Korff finished with her second consecutive round of 81 and fired a three-round total of 244 at the par 72, 5942-yard course.
FAU improved 30 strokes and two places from last year's A-Sun Championship as the Lady Owls finished with a three-round total of 921, 18-strokes back from champions Georgia State University and one-stroke ahead of Jacksonville State University (922). FAU ended the three-day tournament ahead of every Florida school with the University of Central Florida (930) finishing fourth and Stetson University (945) finishing fifth overall.
