Miami, FL. - Another solid performance by Florida Atlantic University's women's golf earned the team a fifth place finish in the Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Miami at Don Shula's Golf Resort. The Lady Owls shot a team round of 318, a four-stroke improvement from the previous day, while Jessica Carafiello rebounded from yesterday to finish in a tie for 10th overall.
Carafiello shot a team round low 77 to bounce back from an 80 she shot on Saturday. The sophomore from Coral Springs, FL, tied her season best finish and has finished in the top ten twice this season. Natalia Navarro continued her consistency by shooting her third straight round of 78 to finish tied for 15th, her fourth straight tournament finishing in the top-15. Heidi von Korff finished the three round tournament with a score of 244 to finish tied for 30th. Kendall Kirby saved her best round for the last day, firing an 80 while Amanda Pettit finished with a three round score of 246.
The Lady Owls finished ahead of every Atlantic Sun school, with the closest ten strokes back, while equaling their finish from last year. Florida State (900) dominated the tournament finishing 24-strokes ahead of second place University of South Florida (924). Host Miami finished third with a score of 940 and Rollins finished fourth with a score of 941.
FAU competes in the Atlantic Sun Championship April 14-16, in Daytona Beach, FL.
