Miami, FL - For the third time this year Florida Atlantic University's Natalia Navarro fell one-stroke shy of winning her fourth collegiate tournament. Navarro finished second individually, extending her streak of top-four finishes to eight, while the Lady Owls finished sixth overall at the Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Miami. FAU finished with a three-day score of 955 at Don Shula's Golf Resort to finish ahead of three Atlantic Sun Conference schools.
Navarro, the A-Sun Women's Golfer-of-the-Month for March, shot a one-over par 73 for the final round to finish with a three-day score of 224. Charlotte Campbell of Rollins College shot a final day two-under par to take medalist honors. Amanda Pettit finished her fifth tournament in the top-25 after firing a third-round 80. Jessica Carafiello tied for 27th with a three-day score of 241. Sandi MacDougall and Kendall Kirby fired rounds of 83 and 89, respectively.
Florida Atlantic could not hold onto fifth place, dropping one spot from the previous day with a final round 318. Rollins College (916) took first overall while USF (923), host Miami (924), Florida State University (927) and Florida International University (949) round out the top-five. UCF (968), Jacksonville University (981) and Stetson (1010), finished seventh, ninth and 13th out of 14 teams in competition.
FAU concludes its season at the Atlantic Sun Championship starting Monday, April 19, in Buies Creek, NC.
