Miami, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team started strong at the Ryder Florida Collegiate Championship, shooting 313 as a team in the opening round. That total put them at sixth place out of fourteen teams entering the second day of competition.

The Owls were once again paced by freshman June Bolme, who has been the team's most consistent golfer all spring. Bolme shot a first-round 73, which tied her for sixth place among all individuals.

Sophomore Sandi MacDougall also placed among the top-30 with her opening-round 79. Senior Jessica Carafiello finished a stroke behind her with an 80.

The second round of the three-round event will be played on Saturday.
