DeLand, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team is in fifth place and trails leader Jacksonville University by only eight-strokes after the first round of the Hatter Spring Fling hosted by Stetson University. Natalia Navarro extended her opening round streak of top-10 finishes to five by finishing third individually while Jessica Carafiello is in seventh at Victoria Hills Golf Club.

Navarro shot an opening round 77 and trails the leader by only two-strokes on the 6,031-yard, par 72 course. Carafiello fired an 80 as she opens her second tournament in the top-10. Sandi MacDougall opened with an 87 while Kendall Kirby and Amanda Pettit shot rounds of 88 and 96, respectively.

The Lady Owls start the Hatter Spring Fling in fifth out of nine teams. JU (324) leads with host Stetson (327), Southwest Missouri State (328) and Daytona Beach Community College (331) rounding out the top-five.

Florida Atlantic concludes play on Tuesday, March 23.
