Citrus Springs, FL - Natalia Navarro extended her streak of opening round top-10 finishes to four while Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team started off in eighth place at the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate hosted by Marshall University. The Lady Owls trail Yale University by only 11-strokes heading into the final day of competition at the El Diablo Golf and Country Club.
Thirty-six holes were scheduled today, but play was suspended during the second 18 holes of play at 6 p.m. tonight due to lightning in the area. Teams will conclude their Monday rounds early Tuesday before final rounds commence later in the day.
Navarro has started a tournament in the top-10 in six of the seven tournaments this year. The junior from Medellin, Colombia fired a four-over par 76 on the 5,922-yard par 72 course. Jessica Carafiello opened the tournament with a 77 to finish in a tie for 12th. Amanda Pettit, Heidi von Korff and Sandi MacDougall shot rounds of 81, 85 and 90, respectively.
